Floral Lace Tights

New lace tights turned out to be a great choice. DH was surprised I didn't already have something like that in my tights collection.

We shopped, we ate, we played... just a regular Saturday out of many others. When we were watching a family movie (Cloudy with a chance of Meatball) tonight, I remembered those Saturday morning DH and I walked to Blockbuster from the apt we lived for 2 years in downtown. Parking is always crazy in downtown. One time, we came out of Blockbuster and could not find our car... it was towed because we parked in front of a dumpster for 10 minutes!

Time Flies...

our life is not exciting, but it is solid.

Need to Tune Down

I have been hoping to have many friends to share the same level of fashion interest with. But reality is that i must tune down to create a comfortable harmony a lot of times.

last year, I was lucky to get a small classic flap in claire at $800 (old pricing plus 20% off for new card holder) something in Bloomingdale Chanel store. it was a lovely little thing and looked good on . but next day, i already had second thought. it was too small for any occasions (in my case any way), but it is not a clutch ... i returned it right away.

i still need a cute beige bag after i returned that small classic flap. this year, i saw this chanel-look-like piece by Marc Jacob from Berdorfgoodman. it is a perfect size and very user-friendly. it is not a cheap bag, but it has what i want most - a low key bag. i won't feel bad if DS puts his dirty hands on it (he did it already on my first wear), and i wont feel uncomfortable to carry it around because it is not a showy bag.

weather is bad these days. DS caught a belly virus, he started to become sick yesterday.
i took some pictures of my new buys (except the black medium classic flap)...

Mixing New and Old

After seeing this beautiful outfit from Oscar de la Renta 2010 spring/summer, I thought of one of my old sweaters. It is a silk/cashmere hoodie sweater in the same pretty teal color (as the Oscar de la Renta shorts) . I wore it with my new MBMJ black cuffed shorts.

the beige shoulder bag is Marc Jacob. booties are Givency.

One of my Sewing Projects: Wool Skirt

DS and DH had a boy's-day-out yesterday. They watched Monster Truck Jam show without me.

I could not be happier because DS had a blast. My role in his monster truck obsession is to look for new monster trucks and keep adding to his spectacular collection.

Today, We went out for some errands and late lunch. I wore one of my recent sewing projects - a RR wool skirt. It was a gorgeous skirt but it created an awkward proportion on me - or, it well could be that i am not tall enough for the skirt. i can't change my height, but i can cut it shorter.

The burgundy bag is Gryson. It rarely gets used. ..some bags just don't have that magic 'zen' in them.

Fashion on Ice

I don't normally stay up late as DH prefers everybody go to bed at the same time (9:30pm -ish). But I got to break the 'rule' when Men's figure skating competition was on last night!

It was so beautiful to watch. Both Evan Lysacek and Johnny Weir's performance gave me goosebumps. and of course, the swanky Russian gold medalist, i always love watching his flawless skate - but he lost to Evan last night, our new king on the ice!

I could not miss out on Evan and Johnny's designer costumes last night. so tasteful, elegant, artistic, flattering... far better than any other skaters from other countries. johnny's angel wing suit reminded me of my McQ chiffon wing and skull scarf...

i have not put on any fashionable outfits lately since i was going to play dates with DS all week. you just don't dress up in those occasions.

my new white booties (in the last picture) look like skate shoes, haha.

Valentine's Day Gift

Last year Valentine's Day, I got a red PST (+ a black wallet). I've never seen such a beautiful and appropriate color for Valentine's. it was a no-brainer, love at first sight choice.

This year, I got this blue Prada satchel/crossbody bag after days of thinking. ... originally, i have 4 bags on my wishlist (the other three are jimmy choos, CL, and Chanel). just yesterday, i finally made my decision on this one! - as difficult as rocket science. ugh...

One of My Sewing Projects

my engineering background hubby taught me how to use sewing machine 2 years ago. I enjoy doing a sewing project once in a while.

So my project was this this long wool skirt mom gave me years ago. I only worn it once or twice in the course of..let's see..7 years! Because long skirt has not been fashionable all these years. and since it was given by mom, i have hard time to give or donate it away.

If long skirt ever will be in trend, I still have quite a few others sit in my closet as back-ups. my hand was a little shaky when i cut the skirt though. what if it doesn't turn out well?

result is not bad at all. i did not take mod pic before i altered the skirt, but i found a mod pic from my old files featuring a similar skirt.

Super Bowl Party

Today is a big day for all American football fans. A lot of people are having Super Bowl parties today. We were invited to DH's co-worker's party.

Before I took shower and got dressed, DH emphasized the party was really causal. no one would dress up. -ok, ok, i got it!

he approved the outfit i ended up wearing. the only thing fancy is the black sequin DKNY silk cardigan. he thinks the oxford flats are cool, especially they look very comfortable to him. hm, not many trends both men and women like, but oxford flats are definitely a winner.

A Picture from 12 Years ago

When I looked through my old album, I thought I came a long way... but one thing has not changed, - my style and my interest in fashion.

It was formed when I was 18 years old. I still remember my first white boyfriend jacket... i begged my mom got it for me. i wore it with black pencil skirt and black tank top underneath. walking around my high school campus, people predicted i focused too much on appearance that i would fail my college entry exams...

anyway, that was me standing in my apt in my home country 12 years ago. the bunch flowers in a awkward place, and my funny 'rebelling' look.haha..

Khaki Jacket

We go to the mall every Tuesday for Family Fun Time in the morning. After 1 hour Sing Along today, we ate in the restaurant and played with other kids at the play ground.

Most mommies dressed comfortable and casual. I spotted an Asian lady in her fur vest outfit. I did not try to stare at her too much. It seemed she pulled it off. I still have not purchased a fur vest. somehow i have the impression that this is a short life trend.

my odj today is a khaki wool jacket. i added a green Pucci scarf for a pop of color. i have another green scarf- i wore it with my Armani jacket last year, with a pair of dark rinse jeans and knee high boots. comparing two sets of mod pics, i thought to myself, nothing has changed really...

life is very peaceful for a stay at home mom. I observe other mommies around me, some truly enjoy their time with kids, some are just there with emptiness in their eyes, and some look tired and depressed... no one says it is a glamorous job. but no matter what you choose to do, -enjoy the ride. especially with kids. i know i am not going to have another one, this is it - my one time experience.
